ICYMI: BIDEN ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCES 7th FLIGHT TO COMBAT BABY FORMULA SHORTAGE
Operation Fly Formula Is Delivering Millions of Pounds of Baby Formula to Ease Shortage
In Case You Missed It – President Biden announced yesterday a seventh Operation Fly Formula mission to further ease the national baby formula shortage. The airlift missions are one of several swift actions the administration has taken. President Biden also invoked the Defense Production Act last month to increase production. The Administration continues to use the full power of the federal government to ramp up production and make sure families can get safe infant formula.
These actions stand in stark contrast to 192 House Republicans who voted against a bill that would support the Food & Drug Administration’s efforts to address the shortage.
The administration, the White House said in a statement obtained first by CNN, is sourcing a flight “facilitated by the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), for Operation Fly Formula to transport Nestlé infant formula from Switzerland to Louisville, Kentucky, on June 16.”
That shipment, the White House said, will include more than 44,000 pounds of Nestlé Health Science Alfamino and Alfamino Junior specialty formula.
Thursday’s flight from Switzerland to Kentucky will mark the seventh Operation Fly Formula flight, the White House said, and by June 19, those flights “will have imported nearly 13 million 8-ounce bottle equivalents of infant formula.”
