ICYMI: JOB MARKET REMAINS INCREDIBLY STRONG WITH 315,000 JOBS ADDED LAST MONTH
5.8 Million Jobs Have Been Added in Last Year Thanks to President Biden
In Case You Missed It — The U.S. labor market remains incredibly strong, with 315,000 jobs added in August according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The jobs report continues one of the strongest periods of job growth in American history, largely thanks to the American Rescue Plan. The remarkable economic achievements of the Biden administration were highlighted by Heather Long of the Washington Post with the following statistics:
5.8 million jobs have added over the past year
Employment is now 240,000 higher than pre-pandemic
Manufacturing added 461,000 jobs in past year
Employers added 315,000 jobs last month, the Labor Department said.
The labor force grew by more than three-quarters of a million people, which should ease concerns about a shortage of workers.
The report is good news for President Biden, who on Friday hailed the combination of strong job growth and cooling inflation as a sign that the economy was finding its footing after months of uncertainty.
“Jobs are up, wages are up, people are back to work. And we’re seeing some signs that inflation may be — may be, I’m not over promising — may be beginning to ease,” Mr. Biden said at the White House. Coupled with falling gas prices, he said, “America has some really good news going into Labor Day weekend.”
