NEW ILLINOIS REPORT: INVEST IN AMERICA RELEASES SMALL BUSINESS REPORT ON SUCCESS OF AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN

Sen. Tammy Duckworth: “With the American Rescue Plan, we were able to provide necessary resources for our hardest-hit small businesses, continuing to help our economy not only stop its freefall, but to grow.”

Rep. Jan Schakowsky: “Small businesses are in many ways the real drivers of our economy. That’s why when Congress passed and the President signed the American Rescue Plan, we made sure that this critical bill included strong support to keep businesses alive.”

Alan Moy: “I think the future is incredibly bright for my businesses, and it might be brighter because of how we rallied together during the pandemic and supported businesses like mine.”

Javier Haro: “Thanks to the assistance and the funding through the American Rescue Plan, we were able to survive. I can proudly say that in 2022, both organizations of my business are flourishing.”

WASHINGTON, DC — Following a Zoom Press Call highlighting the success of the American Rescue Plan helping Illinois small businesses with Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), and small business owners Alan Moy and Javier Haro from Small Business Majority’s network, Invest in America released a new research report titled “How The American Rescue Plan Helped Illinois Small Businesses Through the Pandemic.”

You can read the report here.

The following are statements from the call:

Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL):

“When the American Rescue Plan was signed into law just over a year ago, our country was in the midst of some of the darkest days of the pandemic. But thanks to Democrats — and by the way, only Democrats voted for it — and President Biden, who signed the bill into law, working families across our country received the relief they desperately needed. With the American Rescue Plan, we were able to provide necessary resources for our hardest-hit small businesses, continuing to help our economy not only stop its freefall, but to grow. Those small businesses are the glue that holds our community together — that’s why it was so important to pass the American Rescue Plan.”

Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL):

“Small businesses are in many ways the real drivers of our economy. That’s where most of the workers are, along with so much of the prosperity of our economy. That’s why when Congress passed and the President signed the American Rescue Plan, we made sure that this critical bill included strong support to keep businesses alive. It was literally a lifeline.”

Alan Moy, small business owner of Viet Nom Nom in Evanston:

“This has been a period of investment and hope. I think the future is incredibly bright for my businesses, and it might be brighter because of how we rallied together during the pandemic and supported businesses like mine. I am incredibly grateful — being a third generation restaurant owner comes with a lot of values that were instilled in me by my grandparents, like hard work and taking care of your community. Thank you to all of the folks on this call for their support in passing the American Rescue Plan.”

Javier Haro, small business owner of Food He.Ro in Chicago:

“Thanks to the assistance and the funding through the American Rescue Plan, we were able to survive. I can proudly say that in 2022, both organizations of my business are flourishing because we are in the education space, helping food entrepreneurs, as well as helping communities that are suffering from food insecurity and health disparities. We’re just very grateful and proud that we’re still standing thanks to the help of everyone here.”
