NEW POLL: HUGE MAJORITY SUPPORTS AMERICAN FAMILIES PLAN
61% of Voters, Including 64% of Independents, Support the American Families Plan By A +29 Point Margin
Majority of Voters Support Every Component Of The American Families Plan, Including Child Care, Nutrition Assistance, Paid Family And Medical Leave, Universal Pre-k, Tuition-Free Community College, Expanding The Child Tax Credit, Increasing Affordable Health Care
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The American Families Plan is essential and popular by large majorities according to a new poll released today by Invest in America and Data For Progress.
“Our nation can’t afford to leave behind our children and families if we hope to lead in a 21st century global economy,” said Zac Petkanas, senior advisor for Invest in America. “That requires investing in our education, care, and health care infrastructure, which is not only essential but also wildly popular. Americans have made themselves clear: now is the time to go big on investing in our future and building back a strong middle class with the American Families Plan.”
The poll found that 61% of voters, including 64% of Independents, support the American Families Plan.
The poll also found majority support for every major provision of the package:
- 60% of voters support investing $225 billion in increasing access to and lowering the cost of child care
- 70% of voters support investing $45 billion in nutrition assistance
- 61% of voters support investing $225 in expanding paid family and medical leave
- 51% of voters support investing $200 billion in universal pre-kindergarten for all three- and four-year-olds
- 51% of voters support investing $109 billion in two-year, tuition-free community college
- 55% of voters support investing $400 billion in expanding the child tax credit until 2025
- 60% of voters support investing $80 billion in IRS funding to hold the wealthy accountable and ensure they pay their fair share
- 62% of voters support investing $200 billion in expanded health insurance subsidies to lower the cost of premiums
The survey was conducted with 1,402 voters from April 30 – May 2.
