WASHINGTON, D.C. — A vast majority of voters support a multi-trillion dollar investment in American infrastructure, according to a new poll released today by Invest in America and Data For Progress. The poll found that by a +47 point margin, voters support a Build Back Better plan that includes $4 trillion investment to repair roads, bridges, and schools, modernize the country’s electrical grid, and create millions of jobs. That includes 65% of Independents and 50% of Republicans.
“The American people know that now is not the time to think small,” said Maddy McDaniel, communications director for Invest in America. “There is a clear understanding that large-scale public investment in traditional and clean energy infrastructure will give our economy a huge boost, and provide millions with high paying work to help recover the nearly 10 million jobs lost during the pandemic. The time is now to build on the American Rescue Plan with an infrastructure package large enough to build us back better than before.”
The poll was conducted of 1,291 likely voters between March 19-21. Read more highlights from the poll below:
- More than 60% of voters support every potential provision of a proposed $4 trillion Build Back Better Plan in areas including repairing roads, bridges, drinking water systems and public transportation, and investing in clean energy.
- 52% of voters believe infrastructure investments will drive economic growth, create good-paying jobs, and pay for itself in the long run.
- 53% of voters believe Republicans should work with, rather than obstruct, President Biden to pass the Build Back Better plan.
