NEW REPORTS: INVEST IN AMERICA RELEASES REPORTS ON SUCCESS OF AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN HELPING VETERANS IN MONTANA & ACROSS U.S.

Sen. Jon Tester: “From bolstering VA’s capacity and distribution to ensuring all veterans and their families who wanted a vaccine were able to receive one, the American Rescue Plan has been instrumental in helping our veterans armor up against COVID-19 and put this virus behind us.”

Mayor Wilmot Collins: “In Montana, 1 in 10 people are veterans, and so it’s incredibly important for the people who represent us to vote in favor of our health. I cannot understate how important the American Rescue Plan was for Montana veterans.”

Lieutenant Colonel Marlin Jenkins: “As veterans, we serve in a bipartisan fashion, and we would like to see important bills that benefit veterans passed in a bipartisan fashion. Thank you to Senator Tester for the work he has done for veterans and for passing the American Rescue Plan, and thank you to President Biden, who has made a difference for veterans.”

WASHINGTON, DC — Following a Zoom Press Call highlighting the success of the American Rescue Plan helping veterans across the nation and funding the VA with Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT), Helena Mayor Wilmot Collins, and Lieutenant Colonel Marlin Jenkins, Invest in America released two new research reports with details on how the American Rescue Plan supported veterans, their families, and the VA. Watch the Zoom press call here.

The following are statements from the call:

Senator Jon Tester (D-MT), Chairman of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee:

“From bolstering VA’s capacity and distribution to ensuring all veterans and their families who wanted a vaccine were able to receive one, the American Rescue Plan has been instrumental in helping our veterans armor up against COVID-19 and put this virus behind us. It’s also been key in making sure our most vulnerable veterans are protected by bolstering funding for homeless veterans programs and states’ veterans homes, including $1.5 million for veterans homes in Montana. Beyond providing veterans with the tools they need to protect their health, the ARP also included resources to tackle high levels of unemployment, and thanks to our efforts veterans’ unemployment is the lowest it’s been in years.”

Helena, MT Mayor Wilmot Collins, Navy Veteran:

“This pandmeic left a lot of us paralyzed, so to speak. The American Rescue Plan came in and provided health care services and additional resources to care for us. $14.5 billion was allocated in the American Rescue Plan to help us cover delayed services. $272 million was allocated to mitigate the compensations and pensions claims backlog, which has been alleviated by that investment. In Montana, 1 in 10 people are veterans, and so it’s incredibly important for the people who represent us to vote in favor of our health. I cannot understate how important the American Rescue Plan was for Montana veterans.”

Marlin Jenkins, Lieutenant Colonel in the Maryland Army National Guard:

“As veterans, we serve in a bipartisan fashion, and we would like to see important bills that benefit veterans passed in a bipartisan fashion. Thank you to Senator Tester for the work he has done for veterans and for passing the American Rescue Plan, and thank you to President Biden, who has made a difference for veterans.”
