STATEMENT: NEW WHITE HOUSE WEBSITE FOR FREE COVID TESTS IS A SMART, EFFECTIVE INVESTMENT IN PUBLIC HEALTH
Expanding Tests Will Keep Americans Safe & Make Economy Stronger
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the White House formally launched the website COVIDtests.gov for Americans to order free at-home COVID-19 tests. The website, part of the White House’s plans to distribute one billion tests across the country, is a major investment to keep Americans safe and builds on President Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan, which rushed protective equipment to hospitals and funded more testing for K-12 students and uninsured Americans.
Invest in America’s senior adviser Zac Petkanas issued the following statement:
“The COVIDtests.gov website is a smart, effective investment to make testing readily available to all households and improve public health, which will keep Americans safe and combat the omicron variant. We already know these public health investments work – the website builds on other effective measures in the American Rescue Plan, including $10 billion to get tests to K-12 schools and $6 billion to cover testing for uninsured individuals, shelters, and mental health facilities.
“Bold public investments can save lives and keep our economy growing. We encourage everyone to go to COVIDtests.gov and get your free COVID tests today.”
