SHOT/CHASER: RIGHT-WING BLAMES OUTAGES ON CLEAN ENERGY INVESTMENT, BUT A DECADE-OLD GOP REPORT PROVES CLEAN ENERGY NOT THE PROBLEM 

Conservatives across the country have jumped to blame Texas’ devastating power outages on clean energy investment, despite the fact that up to 90% of the state’s energy comes from fossil fuels.

But a Republican-led report from 2011 shows that problems with coal and natural gas plants are the culprit, not clean energy — and that this has been known for nearly a decade.

The truth is that robust investment in clean energy would create a more reliable grid that can stand up to the challenges the country will continue to face due to climate change – and add thousands of jobs to the economy in the process.
